I can't activate the plugin

When trying to activate the plugin I get this message:
"The plugin cannot be activated because it caused a fatal error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STATIC, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/(redacted)/public_html/wp-content/plugins/rb-internal-links/rb-internal-links.php on line 56"
Any information on what is causing this error, and if there's a way to fix it will be greatly appreciated. I'm using WordPress 2.8.6, spanish language version with the following plugins:
Audio Player, BM Custom Login, Lightbox 2, Register Plus

At the beginning plugin was working. Later at some point after update it stopped. Few days ago I updated to the newest one but problem still remains :(

Any ideas?

Sounds like you need PHP5, are you running on PHP4? You may need to ask your host to upgrade you.

Yes, you are right...PHP Version 4.4.4 :/
